This is my first attempt at blogging. I’ve been a reader of many blogs and have decided to actually create my own. I’m in the Computer Security field. My history is that I’ve been in IT over 20 years in both development and in Computer Security. I have one of those certifications where I can put letters behind my name. I hold a CEH (Certified Ethical Hacker) certification from EC-Council.

I make many attempts at educating myself through many venues. I listen to podcasts and read books that relate to computer security. The podcasts I listen to include Pauldotcom Security Weekly, Cyberspeak Podcast, Network Security Podcast, Crypto-gram, and Hak5 Video Podcast. I do a lot of reading that many would consider BORING! Several folks I read include Bruce Schneier, Ed Skoudis, and Lenny Zeltser. I also try and gleen anything I can from Bret and Ovie, Paul, Larry, and all the others from pauldotcom.com, as well as the Hak5 crew, Bruce Potter and Martin McKeay. This is how I’m trying to work on my geekness everyday!

In future postings, I will talk about things that interest me like Computer Security, Computer Forensics, and Incident Handling. Along with this is the home users because I’ve helped many friends and there is such a wide gap in knowing what to do to protect themselves.

I will close this initial posting and will try and post several times a week. Some of the topics I’ll discuss are open wireless access points, steps in protecting your identity, and other security issues that people need to know. Plus I attended DefCon in Vegas this year and will share that experience also.
